The Fresno Area JATC will be holding journeyman upgrade classes starting the week of January the 16th, 2025. State Licensing for general electricians requires that all wiremen must take 32 hours of continuing education at least once every three years, before your card expires. The following classes will be offered to help you attain the necessary training to meet this requirement.
Conduit Bending
This course is designed to teach students how to use the different types of benders (hand, mechanical, electric, etc). Students will be introduced to trig formulas needed to fabricate conduit. Students will also learn code requirements pertaining to conduit fabrication.

8 hour Fire/Life safety Review
This is an 8-hour course meant to prepare individuals for taking the CA Fire/Life Safety certification. This course will cover the basics of Fire Alarm components, wiring, testing procedures, and device placement. This course will cover aspects of the NFPA 72, and the NEC chapters 310 and 760.” 1-16-2025, 1-23-2025. 5-9pm

Lighting Control
The Lighting Controls Association is proud to offer free, comprehensive online education about lighting control technology and application. Courses are recognized as preparation for CALCTP. Upon completion of courses, print the completion certificates. Email the certificates to the JATC (vbrase@fresnojatc.org) or bring them to the JATC for continued education credit.

This course will re-introduce the student to the basics of motor control. Topics will include rotating machine theory, three-phase power systems, ladder logic, solid state relays, variable frequency driven and other related topics.

Electrical Trainee/Journeyman Electrician Exam Preparation
This course is designed to educate individuals on the fundamental principles of electrical theory, Electrical safe work practices, and the National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements. This is an excellent class for preparing to sucsessfully take the State Code Test. This Class is ongoing year round. Each class will count for 4 hours towards the 32 hours of required class hours for state license renewal.
