How to Apply

Inside Wireman Application Process

You can now fill out an apprenticeship application online! After you fill out an online application, you must still submit your appropriate documentation by mail or drop it off in-person. Once we receive your official sealed transcripts and a copy of a photo ID, we will process your application for testing. Applications can be submitted at any time online.

Application Requirements

In order to meet the minimum qualifications to be accepted into an apprenticeship program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Provide an official (sealed) transcript for high school and post-high school education showing at least one year of a completed Algebra class.
  • If applicable, submit all GED records at the time of application.
  • Submit a DD-214 at the time of application submission to verify military training.
  • Provide an official Photo ID (Drivers License, Government ID Card, etc) at the time of application. After you submit your application, you will need to bring a copy of your Photo ID to the office or mail it.
  • Be able to work for approved employers in Fresno, Maderna, Kings and Tulare counties.
  • Score a 5 or higher on the American Institutes for Research electrical trade’s aptitude test.

Individuals who can verify that they have worked a minimum of 2,000 hours specifically in the electrical construction trade do not need to show a high school transcript or submit a DD-214. Proper documentation must be provided.

Applicants who fulfill the specified prerequisites will be interviewed by the JATC and placed in the Pool of Eligible Applicants (POE), which is ranked and rated. Selection for entry into the apprenticeship program will be based on their final ranking within the POE.
The POE list is flexible, and your position may shift depending on the number of interviews conducted and the scores achieved by other applicants.

Applicants who are selected from the Pool of Eligible Applicants will be required to pass a drug test.
