  • Journeyman Training
    Dec 29, 2021

The Fresno Area JATC will be holding journeyman upgrade classes starting the week of February the 11th, 2024.  State Licensing for general electricians requires that all wiremen must take 32 hours of continuing education at least once every three years, before your card expires.  The following classes will be offered to help you attain the necessary training to meet this requirement.

    Conduit Bending

This course is designed to teach students how to use the different types of benders (hand, mechanical, electric, etc).  Students will be introduced to trig formulas needed to fabricate conduit.  Students will also learn code requirements pertaining to conduit fabrication.  This class will be held on Thursdays from 5pm-9pm.  8 sessions for 32 hours of continued education credit.  Start date 02/15/2024.  Instructor: Ignacio Esparza

    EVITP

This course provides an introduction to electrical charging products and associated equipment on the market today.  Students who wish to become certified in EVITP must complete the entire course (in-person and homework) and pass the final exam.  Students will be charged $80 which covers the cost of the class, exam, and certificate.  Electrical workers completing this training go to work with the ability to implement best practices in areas such as charging equipment, site assessment, load calculations, installation, and commissioning.  This class will be offered on Wednesdays from 5-9.  8 classes for 32 hours. Start date is 02/21/2024. Instructor: Brian Adams

    Lighting Control (online class)

The Lighting Controls Association is proud to offer free, comprehensive online education about lighting control technology and application.  Courses are recognized as preparation for CALCTP.  Upon completion of courses, print the completion certificates.  Email the certificates to the JATC (vbrase@fresnojatc.org) or bring them to the JATC for continued education credit.  Enroll at any time, advance at your own pace.   https://aboutlightingcontrols.org/EducationExpress/

    Motor Controls

This course will re-introduce the student to the basics of motor control.  Topics will include rotating machine theory, three-phase power systems, ladder logic, solid state relays, variable frequency driven and other related topics.  This course will be offered on mondays from 5pm-9pm.  8 sessions for 32 hours credit.  Start date 02/12/2024.  Instructor: Spencer Sharer

Preparing for Ca General Electrician State Certification Exam

All those attending will need a copy of the 2020 NEC, calculator, pen/pencile, and notepad.  These lessons are designed to assist journeyman electricians and senior apprentices electricians to pass the Ca State Certification Exam.  Each class will contain lecture on a specific section or article of the code book, followed by a practice exam.  This class is offered Thursdays from 5pm-9pm continuously throughout the year.  The class does take a break during the holidays and summer.  Each class attended will count as 4 hours of continued education.  Instructor: Michael Alvarez

If you would like to enroll in any of these classes, please contact Victoria at the Fresno JATC (559-251-5174).  A deposit of $100 (check or money order) is required to reserve and attend class.  The $100 deposit will be returned to the student upon completion of the course.
